I swam deep in the quarries, I still have the stones in my skin
I stumbled through the wasteland, strawberry wine in my hand
I saw my young life vanish, like lightening on the lake
I knew I’d die forever, and I knew that you felt the same
I’ve been down, down, down every road
and all I want is to turn back home
I’ve done wrong so many times old friends started turning away
I know you come from plenty, and there’s plenty that I shouldn’t say
I’m still sewn to the scent of your body, so long since you’ve been a girl
Gilded and ill in the summers of hell, back then I could never be sure
Now all I’ve got to tell you is written in lines on my skin
And silently I’ll show you, I’d do it all over again
Remember how Bill Murray woke up to I Got You Babe every day in Groundhog Day? If that song would have been Made Of Moods, he at the very least experienced three and a half perfect minutes each day. It’s one of those songs that I enjoy each and every second of, with it’s jangly guitars and hushed vocals that almost have a Beach Boys vibe, especially in the verse. Truly, it’s a song for the ages. But the best news about Still Life is that it offers eleven additional underground pop gems. Niek || Add To Wantlist
